Transportation
Low cost and senior-friendly transportation and escort services to medical appointments, other therapeutic programs and grocery shopping. This service can be used for any kind of transportation you need, but priority is given to those who need rides to medical appointments.

Wheel-Trans
Wheel-Trans Door-to-Door Paratransit Service

Programs & Services:

Wheel-Trans provides door-to-door accessible transit service for persons with disabilities using accessible buses, contracted accessible taxi minivans and sedan taxis. There are more than 30,000 registered customers who use our service and we provide over 3 million door-to-door trips each year in the City of Toronto.

Details:

Eligibility: Registered users are eligible for Wheel-Trans based on their level of physical functional mobility in the home, within the area immediately surrounding the home, and in the community at large, as well as permanency of disability. Eligibility is not based on particular disabilities, general health or income. All Wheel-Trans applicants, regardless of mobility status, are required to attend an in-person interview so that we may determine eligibility.

Toronto Ride
Launched in 1998, Toronto Ride is a collaborative partnership of thirteen not-for-profit, community support service agencies that provides assisted door-to-door transportation to seniors 55+ and adults with disabilities who are not eligible for Wheel-Trans. Our transportation services help clients live independently by offering equitable access to health care, Adult Day Programs, and appointments and activities in the Toronto-area.

Programs & Services:

Transportation is provided within the boundaries of the City of Toronto. The City of Toronto’s boundaries are approximately Steeles Avenue to the north, the Lake Ontario to the south, Highway 427 to the west, and the Pickering Town Line to the east. Basically any place whose postal code begins with the letter M. You may schedule a ride to and from a medical appointment.

Details:

Eligibility: Riders must be able to enter and exit our vehicles with limited assistance and have foldable walkers and wheel-chairs, if required.

Dates/Times: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
