Anne Johnston was a Founder and second Chair of POINT. She went on to become a City of Toronto Councillor, a Metro Council Councillor and, after amalgamation in 1997, was again elected as a City Councillor. Throughout all these efforts, she worked tirelessly for our community of North Toronto. In 2004, POINT honoured Anne Johnston for her distinguished and exceptional contribution to the North Toronto community with an appreciation luncheon to recognize her work. Other outstanding individuals, whose efforts deserve public recognition, handsomely enrich our community’s life. Consequently, POINT elected to make the “Anne Johnston Event” a vehicle for recognizing such individuals. In 2007, in recognition of her tremendous contribution to this community, Joan Osler was the second “Anne Johnston Event” honouree.

This year POINT is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and the Anne Johnston Event Is being held to recognize and honour Charlotte Maher for her 40 years of outstanding contributions to North Toronto and to the City of Toronto.
