Tenants with rent arrears who are not eligible for social assistance may be able to receive a repayable loan from a rent bank program funded by the City of Toronto and administered by Neighbourhood Information Post. Please call 416-924-3862 for more information about the rent bank which assists families who are working or receiving Employment Insurance.

You can call rent banks if you meet these criteria:

• You are living with and supporting children 16 or younger (single or two parent families);
• You are not more than two months in arrears on your rent;
• The rent you pay is not more than 70% of your gross income;
• Your eviction papers have been served;
• You are able to pay rent after the loan (rent has to be sustainable); and
• Your Landlord will co-operate.
