Welcome To Federation of Information Centres in the GTA Toronto CAP Connections |
|
Project SummaryThe federation of Community Information Centres in the Greater Toronto Area is a network which has been meeting for almost thirty years. It's members are all local Community Information Centres (CICs) which serve to link individuals with needed government, social, and community services. At monthly meetings, Federation members share information, discuss ways to pool resources and develop collaborative responses to issues affecting the agencies and their clients. Community Information Centres develop and maintain extensive databases of human services information, and most of the centres in the Greater Toronto area participate in an automated data sharing network. This allows neighbourhood centres to amalgamate their local database which is more than 3000 records downloaded at regular intervals from Community Information Toronto, thus reducing duplication and enhancing service efficiency. Federation members have a long history of working on successful collaborative projects, including training, database development, and joint analysis of service statistics. Six members of the Federation jointly operate a network of eight public access Internet sites, under the name Toronto CAP Connections Members of the FederationToronto CAP Connections
