Eligibility War veterans and their dependants or survivors, subject to length of service, age, incapacity, residency and income - civilians who served in close support of the Canadian Armed Forces during wartime, former prisoners of war, and veterans of Allied forces may also be eligible

Service description Financial programs including allowances, disability pensions and benefits
  • financial assistance to veterans for medical care, dental services, eyeglasses, prosthetic devices, aids for daily living, ambulance and nursing services, hearing aids, oxygen therapy, prescription drugs, home adaptations
  • transportation assistance for qualifying veterans to medical appointments
  • burial grant for veterans -- see separate entry Last Post Fund. Ontario Branch
  • counselling, information, referral, advice about programs
Canadian Pension Commission -- pensions as compensation for disability, death or prisoner of war incarceration related to military service
Merchant Navy Veteran Special Benefit -- one-time compensation package for Merchant Navy Veterans excluded from regular veteran's benefits
Veterans Independence Program -- assistance with the cost of home care services or long term care facility living may be available to eligible veterans
Applications for financial assistance from the Army Benevolent Fund, the Royal Canadian Navy Benevolent Fund, the Royal Canadian Air Force Benevolent Fund or Soldiers Aid Commission of Ontario may be made through any Service Centre
