Family Service Toronto
Family Service Toronto (FST) helps people face a wide variety of life challenges. For 100 years we have been assisting families and individuals through counselling, community development, advocacy and public education programs. Our services are available to everyone who lives or works in Toronto.

Programs & Services:

We provide counselling services for those facing issues such as:

  • Dealing with chronic or degenerative illness
  • Stress in family relationships
  • Bereavement
  • The uprootedness and difficulty of adapting to a new culture at an advanced age
  • Caregiver stress
  • Elder abuse

Pat’s Place
Pat’s Place is a temporary safe haven for older people experiencing abuse. At Pat’s Place we offer a welcoming environment where residents can take time out from their current situation.

At Pat’s Place we believe that all older people have the right to live a life free of harm. We are striving to create an environment where an older person can live with dignity and in peace.

Distress Centres
Distress Centres provides 24-hour telephone support, 365 days a year. This agency offers round the clock response to those experiencing emotional distress or in need of crisis intervention and suicide prevention. We also provide face-to-face support and counseling to people dealing with the effects of suicide and homicide.

Programs & Services:

408 Helpline
Distress Centres’ trained volunteers provide telephone support for individuals experiencing emotional distress, marginalization, social isolation and those who may require crisis intervention and suicide/family violence intervention services. Confidential. Free service.

ACE (Advocacy Centre for the Elderly
Community based legal centre providing free legal services to low-income seniors 60+

Programs & Services:

Lawyers at ACE provide direct legal services in a wide variety of areas of law affecting seniors including:

  • Health care consent and advance care planning;
  • Consumer protection;
  • Elder abuse;
  • Health care;
  • Home care;
  • Long-term care homes;
  • Pensions and income; and
  • Retirement homes.
