Description:

The Spot, Where YOU(th) Want To Be, offers programming for youth between the ages of 13-30. Using our resources, we are committed to directly engaging with youth to support and help youth in the community.

Programs & Services:

Recreation

Community Kitchen (14-29yrs)
Provide youth with an opportunity to learn how to prepare meals and eat with friends.
Dates: Wednesday, biweekly

Girls Group (15-19yrs)
The Young Women’s Mind program is a social group for young women. It is a small, intimate collection of driven women. Members of the group support each other in striving to accomplish their goals, whatever they may be. The group seeks to be a resource available to young women who want to be positive, productive contributors to their community, and is a great way to connect with other peers with similar but diverse interests and goals.
Date: Wednesdays 5:00-7:00pm

Basketball Program
Free access to Westview Centennial basketball court to participate in weekly activities.
Date: Monday (20 yrs +) Thursday (19 yrs +)

Support Services

No Mind Left Behind (under 29yrs)
This program offers to help youth with their school work and provide whatever academic support they need. Tutoring is free so drop by with your work and get some help going through it.
Date: Monday 5:30-7:30, Wednesdays-Thursday 4:00-6:00pm

Food Bank
Provide youth with free access to basic provisions and non-perishable items.
Date: Second Thursday of every month

Helping Youth Reach Employment (HYRE)
The HYRE program develops and delivers tailored one-on one support and workshops for youth to gain and maintain meaningful employment according to their needs (full-time/part-time):
Pre-employment skills training
•Job search skills training
•Job placement opportunities (e.g., job board, job binder, social media feeds)
•Basic skills training (e.g., read, write, math)
•Career development
•Life skills training (e.g., aggression replacement)

Settlement
This service enables newcomers to access the information and guidance they need in order to settle in their community, to prepare their entry into the Canadian labour market and to become active Canadian citizens.
We also provide ongoing educational workshops, such as:
• Introduction To Canada
• Citizenship Preparation Test
• Sources Of information on rights
• Rights And Freedoms
• Canadian Law And Justice
• Assistance in completing immigration forms and other forms of assistance

artBarn
Artbarn School is a not-for-profit art school in Toronto on Eglinton Avenue West. We offer art classes for adults and for kids as young as 18 months.

Programs & Services:

Drawing For Young People
This course is planned for students aged 12 to 16 who want to learn the fundamentals of drawing or work on portfolio pieces. The course will cover the basic drawing principles and techniques such as proportional measurement, perspective and shading.

Arty Clay
Through the wonderful tactile medium of clay, children will learn hand-building and glazing skills to create wonderful lasting projects. Ages 5-12.

Parent-Child Mixed Media Magic
Parents (or grandparents) and children can spend quality time together as they learn different art techniques in a variety of media – clay, paper mache, painting, printmaking and more.

Adventures in Painting & Beyond
Experiment with different kinds of paint, collage, and textures. A fun and supportive class atmosphere inspires all young artists to be fearless painters! Ages 5-12.

Mini-Mini Art
Expose your toddler to some exciting early learning through art. Parents or caregivers can spend some time, relax and enjoy the tactile creative activities as well. Ages 1 only.

Amazing Mini Art
Help your child realize their Artist in Me with our fun Spring inspired artwork. Ages 3-4.

Arty Sundays
Our popular Arty Sundays drop in is suited to children aged 4 to 9 years. Each week different fun and messy activities will be offered. Parents are welcome to get involved as well.

Without an emphasis on competition our focus on self-esteem and creativity is what keeps this company growing. Groove projects a real family atmosphere, whether it be the home-made costumes or the warm loving teachers who make sure each child feels like the individuals they are.

North Toronto Tennis Club
Our club, located in the heart of North Toronto and surrounded by the mature maple trees of Lytton Park is a hidden treasure. With three well maintained courts, a clubhouse and lights for night play, this club has something for every level of play.

Programs & Services:

Quickstart (beginner level)
This class is geared to develop and teach progressive tennis techniques incorporating fun and unique drills and games. Fitness will also be a focal part. Smaller class sizes and appropriately organized groups will ensure all participants are fully engaged in our programs!

On My Way (intermediate level)
This class is set up for players who have a good grasp of tennis strokes & positioning fundamentals. Games & drills will focus on developing control, co-ordination and game tactics. Students will be challenged through competitive and co-operative activities against other students and the coach.

Forest Hill Figure Skating Cub
We have a team of certified Skate Canada coaches who are dedicated to maintaining high quality of programming in an enjoyable, safe and positive setting.

Programs & Services:

PreCanSkate
Our PreCanSkate classes are designed for skaters ages 3-8 who have never been on the ice and/or have not yet mastered the ability to glide. Skaters learn the basics – balance, falling down and getting up, forward skating and stopping.

CanSkate
Our CanSkate classes are designed for skaters ages 4-9 (by September 1st) with prior skating experience. CanSkate is the Skate Canada flagship learn-to-skate program, and children are divided into groups by skill level to learn all basic skating skills, including balance; skating forward and backward; stopping; and simple jumps and spins.

Double Digit
Our Double Digit program is a CanSkate program designed for skaters ages 10-16.

STARSkate
STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives.
