Our goal is to aid in your children’s development by providing a program that is varied, age appropriate and stimulating. Our curriculum has been created to help your children develop socially, emotionally, physically, linguistically, and cognitively while keeping in mind the uniqueness of all children. A wide variety of cognitively oriented toys and planned activities are available to stimulate the child’s physical, emotional and intellectual growth, while discoveries are encouraged through the arts, drama, music, movement, literature and sciences. We also take time to teach positive social values and respect for all life forms.
Program plans are developed to address all developmental milestones from birth to 5 years of age. Each room implements program plans that are geared to meet the needs and abilities of the children and are adjusted weekly. Full-time and Part-time programs are available.

abc Academy first opened its doors at 18 Melrose on March 5, 2007. The centre was founded by Wendy Arnold List, a mum and businesswoman who built abc to have the optimal place to help care for her children. She wanted to create a beautiful facility with nurturing staff and programming focusing on a healthy lifestyle and Kindergarten readiness – but most importantly, she wanted her kids to love it. It continues to offer a warm, nurturing, educational and fun environment for little ones giving parents great peace of mind and kids a great start to school.
Our programming exposes the kids to different kinds of learning, but not at the expense of what we believe is most important when you’re little – having FUN!
Our infant classrooms have all the safe and fun toys the children are used to at home, plus are provided with lots of opportunities to engage in new experiences both in the class and outside. We believe that fresh air and exposure to new environments is very important for all children, including our littlest ones so they get time in the yard and we take them out for neighbourhood walks, whether they are in the stroller or perfecting their walking technique holding our hands.
At this stage the kids start to learn more independence and also thrive on the class’s daily routine. We help the kids at this stage not just experience the wonders of the environment around them, but to interact and manipulate it in a safe yet exciting way.
This class focuses on preparing kids for Kindergarten, both academically and socially while holding onto all of the fun of being in Pre-School. Turn-taking and rule following is now a regular part of their repertoire.

We provide a play-based, child-directed environment that offers development in all areas of children’s growth. We believe children are active learners; therefore, challenging opportunities are provided for individuals to problem solve, explore and make sense of the world around them. A safe and healthy environment is fundamental to all our program activities.
Our programs involve play based activities that are responsive to the child’s interests and development. It encompasses hands on experiences, indoor and outdoor play, excursions, special events and visitors from the community.
